Role Title: Directional Surveyor / Drilling Engineer (Magnetic Single-Shot and Multi-Shot Film)
Role Type: Contractor
Location: Remote
The company is engaging Directional Surveyors and Drilling Engineers with expertise in magnetic single-shot and multi-shot survey film methods to contribute to a customer's advanced drilling project. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. This opportunity is ideal for survey analysts, drilling engineers, and survey professionals familiar with reading and interpreting magnetic survey discs, identifying magnetic interference, and verifying accurate wellbore positioning.
Scope of Work
- Analyze and interpret magnetic single-shot and multi-shot survey film data, including traditional film-based survey discs.
- Conduct quality control checks on wellbore survey data, identifying errors, inconsistencies, and interference indicators.
- Apply calculations for declination, magnetic interference corrections, and closure, ensuring high-accuracy wellbore mapping.
- Document step-by-step reasoning used in survey interpretation and corrections for educational and reference purposes.
- Evaluate reported wellbore positions for accuracy and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Contribute real-world scenarios and complex cases involving magnetic survey tools and film-based measurements.
- Provide clear written and verbal explanations of techniques, findings, and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience with magnetic single-shot and multi-shot survey instruments, especially those using film-based technology.
- Strong background in directional surveying, survey analysis, and drilling engineering within oil & gas or related sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex survey calculations, including magnetic declination, interference detection, and closure computations.
- Expertise in identifying, documenting, and correcting survey data errors and magnetic influences.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both experts and non-specialists.
- Familiarity with standard industry practices for wellbore survey QC and directional drilling fundamentals.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to delivering high-quality, real-world input to support AI training initiatives.
