Engineering Design and CAD Specialist
Role type: Contractor
Location: Remote, worldwide
Commitment: Part-time, flexible hours
About the opportunity
The company is looking for experienced CAD designers and mechanical engineering professionals to contribute to an AI training project focused on mechanical design.
In this role, you'll apply your CAD expertise to create and modify 3D models, solve realistic mechanical design challenges, and document your design process step by step. Your work will help AI systems better understand engineering design workflows, technical constraints, and the reasoning behind design decisions.
We're looking for professionals who are comfortable working with parametric CAD software and can clearly explain how they approach complex design tasks.
What you'll do
- Create and edit 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies based on technical specifications.
- Develop parametric models using sketches, constraints, dimensions, and feature trees.
- Design and modify mechanical components while considering functionality, manufacturability, and engineering requirements.
- Review CAD models for dimensional accuracy, tolerances, geometric consistency, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Complete advanced CAD design tasks and document your workflows step by step, explaining key decisions and modeling techniques.
- Create clear technical instructions and detailed prompts for mechanical design tasks.
- Apply engineering judgment to identify design issues, improve models, and explain potential solutions.
Preferred qualifications
- Hands-on experience with 3D parametric CAD modeling, mechanical parts, and assemblies.
- Good understanding of mechanical design principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and manufacturing processes.
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
- Professional experience using SolidWorks or similar parametric CAD software.
- A master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Previous experience with human data projects, such as data annotation, reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF), or AI model evaluation.
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, or reverse engineering.
Engagement details
- Contract type: Independent contractor
- Location: Fully remote, open to candidates worldwide
- Schedule: Part-time with flexible working hours
- Project focus: CAD modeling, mechanical design, and technical workflow documentation
Application process
After submitting your application, you'll complete an AI interview designed to assess your relevant experience and technical knowledge.
